#SayNoToXenophobia: Police Lock Down Enugu

The Police Command in Enugu has beefed up security in the state in anticipation of retaliatory attacks on South African businesses by residents.

Speaking to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Wednesday, September 4, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, said that the police had increased the number of patrols in the state, with more focus on Enugu.

The increased patrols and deployment to strategic locations of some businesses is to ensure that nothing untoward happens. The command is also appealing to residents not to take the law into their hands.

But we expect that all will be law-abiding even as the Federal Government is currently doing something on the development.  Ebere Amaraizu – pmnewsnigeria.com

The xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa have incited several reprisal attacks on businesses owned by South Africa in the country as citizens continue to express their anger over the events.
