Tinubu is scheduled to visit Rivers State for a two-day official visit, during which he will commission the Rumuola/Rumuokwuta Flyover and the ultra-modern Magistrates’ Court Complex, Port Harcourt, on May 3 and May 4, 2023, respectively.

Kelvin Ebiri, Wike’s media aide, disclosed this in a statement released to the press. According to Ebiri, the Governor sent a formal invitation to Tinubu after the general elections, which he graciously accepted.

This will be Tinubu’s first official visit to any state since he emerged as the President-elect of Nigeria.

Wike added that by this visit, Tinubu will join the long list of distinguished Nigerians who have visited Rivers State to commission landmark projects.

“For us, it is an honor to host the President-elect on this historic visit,” said Wike. “I urge all Rivers citizens to come out en masse to receive our President-elect, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and display the traditional Rivers hospitality as he commissions these legacy projects to God’s glory and the advancement of our development.”

To ensure a smooth and orderly welcome for Tinubu, Wike has ordered all shops and business premises along Rumuola to Rumuokwuta roads in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State to remain closed from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on May 3, 2023. He also urged all labor unions and security agencies to comply with this closure order.

Wike has called on Rivers people to come out in large numbers and give the President-elect a warm welcome during his visit. The Governor expressed his confidence that the commissioning of the projects would mark a new beginning in the development of Rivers State.
