About a year after they took to the streets to protest against the current administration, Nigerians are rallying behind human rights activist Omoyele Sowore yet again as they go out today.
In what many will see as an act of futility, #RevolutionNow protesters have damned the consequences, choosing to risk detention so as to express displeasure over President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
Last year, security operatives were dispatched to several regions of the country and they ended up arrested many, placing them in detention.
Among those apprehended was the #RevolutionNow convener himself, Omoyele Sowore, whose case would make it to world news headlines as global citizens called for his release (which took place several months later).
In a repeat of what happened a year ago, many march in protest today, and Nigerians on Twitter are not staying silent about it, providing updates on the situation as the police once again make arrests and clash with protesters.
