Leeds winger Raphinha has been tipped to join Barcelona over the last couple of months but the deal is now looking as though it will collapse after a series of discussions have not yielded any fruit.
The Brazil international is rumored to be very eager to join Barca this summer as he intends to play in bigger competitions like the UEFA Champions League and similar ones. However, Leeds are not eager to sell him this summer unless they receive an offer of around £50m and Barcelona are the only club interested in Raphinha.
Unfortunately, Barcelona are facing a case against Financial Fair Play and are working hard to sell off some players in order to raise money to fund a move for the star. Leeds have made it clear they do not want installment payments for Raphinha and will only accept wholesome transfer fees.
The English side secured their place in the Premier League after battling relegation for the most part of the campaign. Should they have been relegated, Barcelona could have easily gotten him for around £23m due to squad devaluation but that is not the case.
Barcelona are very interested in Raphinha as their fears increase regarding Ousmane Dembele’s uncertainty about his future. Xavi is rumoured to have spoken to him personally and he is positive that the winger will join the Barcelona squad this summer.
It is now an open race as other clubs will want to exploit Barcelona’s financial weakness and try to fund a move for the Brazilian. Other clubs rumored to be in the race include Manchester United, Newcastle, and PSG. However, the 25-year-old wants to join Barca personally and it has been a lifelong dream for him to be in the Catalonian city.
Leeds are confident of keeping Raphinha ahead of next season and the Brazilian has not made mention of his desire to leave the club as of yet. A source close to Raphinha said that he will be respectful to Leeds until the last minute and he has already stated he will not be arrogant despite his desire to join Barcelona in the summer window.
