President Muhammadu Buhari is set to make a scheduled 3-day trip to South Africa on October 3 to discuss the living conditions of Nigerians still living there with President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The planned visit follows the evacuation of Nigerians who chose to seek refuge in their home country after the xenophobic attacks meted out on them and other foreigners by South Africans.

President Buhari will visit the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria and the Nigerian Consulate General in Johannesburg while in the foreign country. His meeting with Ramaphosa is expected to explore issues that will mutually benefit both nations as the two leaders attempt to strengthen ties between them.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, revealed in a statement that Buhari will also hold a meeting with Nigerians still in South Africa. The aim is to provide them the opportunity to share their experiences so that the Nigerian government can work towards protecting their lives and property.
