Court Grants Portable Bail

Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable and the popular singer of “Zazu Zeh,” has been granted bail by a Magistrate Court in Ifo, Ifo local government area of Ogun State. The Ogun State Police Command had brought charges against the hip hop artist on three counts, including assault and theft of musical equipment.

Despite the charges, Portable was granted bail today by the presiding Magistrate of the court. His bail conditions include the payment of N300,000 and securing two sureties from his immediate family. The Magistrate has required Portable to fulfill the bail conditions before leaving the court premises.

Last week, the singer posted an Instagram live video claiming that police personnel had stormed his bar at Sango Ota at the request of an Internet fraudster (Yahoo Boy). The video went viral and prompted the Ogun State Police Command to invite the singer to their office. However, Portable refused to show up even after being given a 72-hour ultimatum by the police to turn himself in.

Portable was eventually arrested on Friday by police operatives after turning down multiple invitations extended to him. On Saturday, Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, announced that the singer had more than six charges to attend to, apart from resisting arrest and injuring a policeman.

“He will be charged to court for beating up a guy in Ota, who filed a petition to CP Ogun,” Adejobi tweeted. “There are many pending cases of assaults on people and attacks, and he will be investigated because people have complained against him.”

In response, Portable argued that his arrest was “unwarranted” and that he makes his money “legitimately.” Nonetheless, he will face the charges brought against him in court.
