Police Kills Suspected Robber In Gun Battle In Ogun
Operatives of Ogun Police Command Friday shot dead a suspected armed robber at Ibara housing estate area of Abeokuta metropolis.

The person shot dead is said to be a member of a five-man robbery syndicate.

The incident occurred at 1 am on Friday when the armed suspected members of gang reportedly invaded a compound housing twelve flats and began to dispose the occupants of their valuable properties.

It was gathered that the police received a distress call from a neighbour, a development which made the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu dispatched the Officer in charge of FSARS, Uba Adams.

In a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, he said the operatives upon arrival at the scene engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle, leading to the killing of a member, while others “escaped with various degrees of gunshot injuries.”

The items recovered from the gang include GSM handsets, 4 laptops computers, wallets and other valuables belonging to the residents of the compound.

Abimbola added that the Commissioner of Police had “ordered for massive manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang with the view to bringing them to justice within the shortest possible time.”

He equally quoted Iliyasu to have warned criminals “to stop testing the Command’s resolve and willpower in crime fighting as they will always meet their waterloo whenever and wherever they operate within the State.”
