The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has expressed his confidence in Nigeria’s judiciary, despite doubts, to make a fair and just decision in the Presidential election matter before it. Mr. Obi made this statement on the Channels Television’s Sunrise Programme, where he was a guest on Thursday. He believes that the justices, being Nigerians, are aware of the dire situation in the country and the need for truth and justice to prevail to save Nigeria.

According to Mr. Obi, the justices desire a better future for themselves and their children, which can only be achieved by doing the right thing and informing the people of the truth about any situation. He challenged the declaration of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu as President-Elect and hopes that justice will be done in this case.

When asked about his reaction if the nation continues with business as usual, Mr. Obi expressed shock at the possibility of such criminality continuing. It is disheartening to him that Nigeria, as the giant of Africa, cannot hold a simple election. Smaller nations like Ghana have been successful with a small margin of error, and even the world’s largest democracy, India, achieves less than a five percent error margin.

Mr. Obi also commented on the conduct of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the Presidential and National Elections. He reiterated that what INEC declared was false and that he is challenging the process and the declaration. Mr. Obi has lost trust in INEC since they set rules for the election and abandoned them in the middle of the game. He believes that the majority of Nigerians have also lost confidence in INEC, seeing that they promised so much but could not deliver the minimum.

Mr. Obi used a restaurant analogy to describe what INEC did on February 25. He said it was like a restaurant promising a sumptuous meal, serving the a la carte but failing to bring the main meal.

Regarding the upcoming gubernatorial and state Assembly elections, Mr. Obi urged his supporters to vote for Labour Party candidates in their states, and where there is no candidate, to vote with a new Nigeria in mind. They should look for competence, character, capacity, and capabilities in the candidates they vote for.

In conclusion, Mr. Obi expressed his confidence in Nigeria’s judiciary, and he hopes that justice will prevail in the Presidential election matter. He believes that a better Nigeria can be achieved by doing the right thing and telling the truth, and he encourages Nigerians to vote for competent candidates who will make a positive change in the country.
