The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reversed the suspensions of former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, former Governors Ayo Fayose and Ibrahim Shema, as well as two others over allegations of anti-party activities. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State was also referred to the party’s disciplinary committee for the same offence. However, the NWC reversed the decision and called for a total reconciliation among party leaders and critical stakeholders to foster unity in the overall interest of the party and Nigerians.

The decision was announced by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, who emphasized that the NWC has the power to take disciplinary action against any member of the party at any time, pursuant to the provisions of the PDP Constitution. The NWC urged all leaders, critical stakeholders and members of the party to be guided by the provisions of the Constitution and embrace the new spirit of reconciliation, unity, and harmony in the party.

Meanwhile, the State Working Committee of the PDP in Benue State suspended the Ward Executive Committee of the party in Igyorov Council Ward of Gboko Local Government Area. However, the suspension order was countered by another faction of the committee led by Vice Chairman Helen Ortese, who disowned the suspension order and urged the public to disregard it.

In response to the conflicting factions, the SWC resolved to suspend the committee and directed them to hand over all documents or other items in their possession belonging to the party to the State Executive Committee of the party immediately. The SWC will administer the affairs of the party in Igyorov Council Ward for a month pending necessary action to restore sanity, harmony, law, and order in the party in that area.
