The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara state has accused the state government of transferring funds from government accounts to voters in a bid to influence them ahead of the March 18 governorship/state House of Assembly elections.

The director general of the PDP campaign council in the state, Professor Ali Ahmad, spoke with journalists in Ilorin and directed the party’s legal department to write the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other anti-corruption agencies about the alleged voter inducement.

The PDP urged the people of the state to vote for the party’s governorship candidate, Alhaji Shuaib Yaman Abdullahi, in the upcoming elections.

The state government has denied the allegations, saying that the PDP is notorious for its reckless claims and penchant for outright falsehood. The state government also highlighted its social investment program, which it claims is transparent and has had a positive impact on the local economy. The PDP was criticized for its failure to pay salaries while in government and was urged to accept the verdict of the people on their “horrible legacies.”
