In preparation for the upcoming off-cycle governorship elections scheduled for November 11, 2023, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially announced its formidable national campaign council.

The list, unveiled on Tuesday by Debo Ologunagba, the spokesperson of the PDP, features a stellar lineup of prominent politicians, including former governor of Rivers, Nyesom Wike, and current governor of Oyo, Seyi Makinde. Additionally, Samuel Ortom, the former governor of Benue, has also made the cut, bringing his vast political experience to the council’s operations.

The council also includes Okezie Ikpeazu, the former governor of Abia, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the former governor of Enugu state, further reinforcing the campaign council’s influence.

For the Bayelsa governorship election, Makinde, Wike, and Ikpeazu have been shortlisted as vital members of the campaign council. In a remarkable display of versatility, Ortom has been selected as a member of both the Bayelsa and Kogi campaign councils. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s expertise will also be leveraged as a member of the Imo and Bayelsa campaign council.

“The national working committee (NWC) of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has approved the nomination of the following party stakeholders to serve in the national campaign councils for the forthcoming governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states,” read the official statement from the PDP.

“The council shall be inaugurated on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. During the inauguration, certificate of return will be presented to the guber candidates in the 3 states.”

With the unveiling of this powerful campaign council, the PDP aims to rally its prominent members to enhance the party’s chances in the upcoming off-cycle elections. As the political landscape heats up in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo, the PDP will rely on the experience and charisma of these prominent politicians to sway voters in their favor and secure electoral victories.
