PDP chieftain seeks mercy for Ekweremadu from King Charles III
Chinedu Eya appeals to King Charles III for Senator Ekweremadu’s release

Mr. Chinedu Eya, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, has made a heartfelt plea to King Charles III to secure the release of Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who was recently convicted along with his wife and a medical doctor for organ harvesting in the United Kingdom. Eya has written a letter to the newly-crowned king, appealing for his mercy and invoking the Royal Prerogative of Mercy on behalf of the Ekweremadus and the doctor.

In his letter, which was titled “Appeal for Your Gracious and Merciful Invocation of the Royal Prerogative of Mercy For Ike Ekweremadu and wife, Beatrice over their conviction by a British Court,” Eya congratulated King Charles III on his coronation and highlighted the unfortunate situation that led to the conviction of the former deputy Senate President, his wife, and their doctor.

Eya explained that Senator Ekweremadu and his wife were enmeshed in the controversy surrounding kidney donation and transplant as they were only seeking to save the life of their daughter, Sonia. Unfortunately, Sonia’s health challenges had led to the conviction of her parents and their doctor. Eya appealed to the king’s sense of mercy and urged him to use his prerogative to set the convicted individuals free.

Eya further noted that Senator Ekweremadu had made significant contributions to Nigeria and Africa, having served as deputy Senate President and Speaker of ECOWAS Parliament. Therefore, he believed that it was vital to seek the king’s mercy and secure the release of Senator Ekweremadu and his wife.

In conclusion, Eya’s letter to King Charles III is a passionate appeal for the release of the convicted individuals, highlighting the unique circumstances that led to their conviction and their significant contributions to society. It is a plea for mercy and an invocation of the Royal Prerogative of Mercy, which is within the power of the king to grant.
