Max Air aircraft crash-landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Sunday afternoon, causing panic among passengers and airport staff.
TalkGlitz Media learned that the incident occurred at about 3:00 p.m. and no fatalities were recorded.
Max Air, in a statement released Sunday evening, said the affected aircraft had 143 passengers and an infant onboard. The airline also confirmed that the aircraft experienced two tire bursts on landing, and the emergency response team quickly responded at the airport.
“All passengers and crew on board the aircraft are safe and sound. We have taken all necessary steps to ensure that the passengers are comfortable and being taken care of during this time. They have been conveyed to the arrival terminal with their luggage and belongings,” the statement read.
According to Max Air, the aircraft’s tires are being replaced, and the plane will taxi to the ramp for further investigations before being released for future flights.
The airline expressed appreciation to the airport authorities, emergency services, and all relevant agencies who responded promptly and professionally to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew on board.
Eyewitnesses at the airport revealed that the incident caused momentary panic and confusion among passengers and staff, with some running for safety.
