The winner received the cheque with his friends and family who applauded the bank for its commendable efforts in changing the lives of everyday Nigerians.

Expressing his delight at his ₦1 million grand prize, Somadina said, “I can now proudly say I’m a millionaire. I didn’t believe it when they called me and told me to visit a [Wema Bank] branch because I had opened my ALAT account on my own and I haven’t had any reason to visit the bank. However, my friend egged me on to visit the bank where it was confirmed.”

Umeh plans to invest the ₦1 million prize into his trading business at the Adem Industrial Complex market, Orile, Lagos, where he sells building materials. This sentiment was also echoed by his brother-in-law, Prince Remy Anoliefo, who facilitated Umeh’s move to Lagos and his career as an entrepreneur. “I am proud that my brother is partaking in this blessing, and I will guide him into investing the money so it can yield more returns for him,” the winner’s brother-in-law beamed.

The Anambra native opened his ALAT account in late 2021, three years after moving to Lagos to live with his brother-in-law, who experienced his joy, for the win.

The Divisional Retail Head of Wema Bank, Dotun Ifebogun, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to reward its new and existing customers who are exploring different ways of conducting transactions in the bank.

Ifebogun further stated “We are very happy that we are helping our customers smile into the new year. Our aim is to educate customers on various ways they can operate their Wema account using functions such as the USSD code and the ALAT app rather than visiting a physical bank. The world is changing and it is important to encourage our customers to explore various possibilities. Since June, we have awarded prizes worth about 21 million naira and the gifts have changed the lives of our customers.”

The 5for5 reward promo is one of the various ways ALAT is impacting the lives of its customers. Apart from the six millionaires, 120 customers have won ₦100,000 each while 300 customers have won ₦10,000 each.
