Onofiok Luke, a federal lawmaker representing Etinan federal constituency and an aspirant for the 2023 gubernatorial race in Akwa Ibom State, has denied collecting money from anyone to support Pastor Umo Eno’s candidacy for the state governorship position. Luke made this known during an interview with newsmen at his residence in Nsit Ubium local government area.
He explained that he decided to support Pastor Eno because he believed it was God’s will for him to become the next governor of the state and because of his consistency with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He also denied claims that he had collected money to drop his own governorship aspirations, stating that he only demanded two things: that his supporters be integrated and that development should be taken to the rural people.
Luke emphasized that he consulted extensively across the state and that he prayed and fasted before deciding to support Pastor Eno. He expressed his belief that the will of God had been done, and he challenged anyone who claimed to have offered him money to come forward and make it public.
Luke also shared his expectations for the incoming leaders, both at the national and state levels, stating that they needed to support small-scale businesses to jumpstart the economy. He emphasized the need for the new leaders to keep the promises they made during their election campaigns and to fulfill their commitments to various segments of society.
In conclusion, Luke reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP and expressed his confidence that the incoming leaders would work hard to fulfill their promises and bring development to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
