In a momentous event on Monday, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu officially assumed office as Nigeria’s First Lady. The wife of President Bola Tinubu arrived at the First Lady’s wing in Abuja, accompanied by her security aides, marking the beginning of her duties in this prestigious role.

Upon her arrival, Mrs. Tinubu was warmly received by Mr. Tijjani Umar, the Permanent Secretary of the State House, along with other Heads of Units in the First Lady’s Office. The First Lady embarked on a comprehensive tour of the various offices within the First Lady’s wing, including the Administrative, ICT, Catering, Media, and Protocol Units.

Born on September 21, 1960, Mrs. Tinubu hails from a diverse background, with an Itsekiri mother and a Yoruba father. She possesses an impressive academic background, holding a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Ife. Throughout her career, she has pursued further education and completed several courses in esteemed institutions.

Mrs. Tinubu’s previous experiences in public service are noteworthy. From 1999 to 2007, she served as the wife of the Lagos State Governor, where she showcased her commitment to improving the lives of Lagosians. Subsequently, she was elected as the Senator representing Lagos Central in the Nigerian Senate.

During her tenure, Mrs. Tinubu dedicated herself to various philanthropic activities aimed at alleviating the plight of vulnerable individuals within her constituency. Her initiatives sought to provide relief and support to those in need, reflecting her deep empathy and compassion for the less fortunate.
