Olufemi Ajadi, the gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party in Ogun State, has stated that he was urged by former governor Ibikunle Amosun to withdraw from the race in favor of Biyi Otegbeye of the African Democratic Congress, whom he preferred. However, Ajadi rejected the offer, citing that his party was not in alliance with any other political party. He expressed confidence in his victory in the upcoming governorship election on Saturday, stressing that he will emerge victorious against his opponents, Prince Dapo Abiodun of the APC and Oladipupo Adebutu of the PDP.

At a media briefing with journalists in Ogun State on Wednesday, Ajadi relied on the growing population of youths on the INEC’s voters list, stating that the Nigerian youths in the state were firmly behind him and would vote massively for him. Ajadi, who considers himself an ambassador of the youths, declared that he could not sell out the trust and mandate given to him by his party and the youths.

Ajadi disclosed that he was approached by various political parties and heavyweights in the state, including a former governor, to join their parties or step down for their preferred candidate. However, he stated that he could not be bought by anyone as he is also a billionaire, and he would not compromise his principles for a mere pittance.

Regarding his plans for the state, Ajadi promised stable electricity and an improved road infrastructure in Ogun state, emphasizing that there was a need to address the issue of unstable electricity, which was affecting the state’s economy. He also pledged to make Ogun state a sports hub, where international companies could come for scouting, highlighting his background as a trained boxer
