The Former Bread Seller-Turned-Model Opens Up on Years of Abuse and Struggles After Separation
Olajumoke Orisaguna, famously known as Olajumoke Onibread, has opened up about her traumatic experience with domestic violence during her marriage to Sunday Orisaguna. The former bread seller-turned-model, who rose to fame in 2016 after a chance appearance in a photoshoot with British rapper Tinie Tempah, recounted her ordeal during an interview with City FM, where she also accused her ex-husband of ruining her career.
The mother of two detailed how her marriage became toxic, citing constant beatings and interference from her mother-in-law. “Whenever I had misunderstandings with his mother, he would beat me to the extent that my face and body would be swollen. Sometimes he would even use a belt,” Olajumoke revealed. She explained that her ex-husband often acted on his mother’s word without hearing her side of the story.

Hostile Environment and Isolation
Olajumoke shared that living in her husband’s family home in Ire, Osun State, made matters worse. “There is no way you stay in such a place that you would not encounter problems,” she said, adding that her mother-in-law was particularly hostile. Despite enduring abuse, she refrained from telling her mother, who lived nearby, as her mother disapproved of the marriage from the beginning.
“My mom would say she didn’t bless any marriage and cannot also ask me to leave there, so she did not involve herself in the issue. Only those who lived with us knew about the beatings,” Olajumoke said.
The Decision to Leave
In January 2016, an altercation with her husband’s elder sister during a family event became the breaking point. After being beaten again, she decided to leave for Lagos, bringing her two children with her. She explained that her move to Lagos was an effort to rebuild her life and start afresh by working at a bakery where she had previously been employed.

“I packed my load and brought my two children with me to Lagos because I couldn’t leave them there,” she said, adding that a friend who had previously warned her about the marriage supported her decision to leave.
Challenges After Separation
Following the separation, Olajumoke said her ex-husband began spreading false stories about her, which she claims damaged her reputation and career. “Everything started going down the drain after separation because he started spoiling my name. Since then, things started going down,” she lamented.
Olajumoke became an overnight sensation in 2016 after photobomber images of her, taken by renowned photographer TY Bello during a Tinie Tempah shoot, went viral. Her journey from selling bread on the streets to walking the runway and signing modeling deals inspired many. However, she now faces the challenge of rebuilding her life amid the difficulties caused by her tumultuous marriage.
