According to OlaDips’s personal assistant Abdulrasheed Opeyemi, the Nigerian rapper was thought to have died three days ago, but then he unexpectedly came back to life. The rapper’s death was officially announced on November 14, following rumors of an undisclosed illness.
Oladips’ management team initially released a statement expressing their grief over his passing: “We are saddened to inform the general public that Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, aka Oladips, passed away yesterday, November 14, Tuesday evening, at exactly 10:14 pm. We are still in shock as we speak! For over two years, he has battled his illness privately; his body is now with his family. We request that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.”
However, following a wave of backlash and criticism, Abdulrasheed clarified the situation in an interview with Punch. He explained that there was a misunderstanding caused by the rapper’s manager, who had prematurely announced Oladips’ death. According to Abdulrasheed, everyone, including the manager, believed Oladips had passed away as he showed no signs of life for three days. It was only on the third day that Oladips miraculously revived, by which time the news of his supposed demise had already been shared.
When asked about the rapper’s whereabouts during those three days, Abdulrasheed stated that Oladips was with his family.
Further addressing the fallout from this incident, Abdulrasheed disclosed that the manager responsible for sharing the initial news of Oladips’ death has been relieved of their duties. He assured that Oladips himself would soon make a public statement to address the confusion and provide clarity on the matter.
