The Okigwe Forum has expressed its appreciation for President Bola Tinubu’s recent appointment of Mr. John Ugochukwu Uwajumogu as the Special Adviser for Industry, Trade, and Investment. In a statement released by the Speaker of the Forum, Sir Collins Anoro, the decision was described as a significant and positive step in the right direction.
The statement, made available to newsmen in Abuja, conveyed the Forum’s changing perception of President Tinubu’s leadership. Previously considering him to be a weak and elderly figure who would perpetuate the cycle of old politicians in the country, Sir Collins Anoro admitted that his opinion had shifted with the appointment of John Uwajumogu.
Anoro emphasized that Uwajumogu’s non-membership in any political party and his young age were notable aspects that stood out. The Speaker further expressed his belief that Uwajumogu was not a Nigerian politician, stating, “The last interaction I had with him kept me thinking that he should come to Macedonia and help us.”
The Forum acknowledged Uwajumogu’s professional expertise and considered him to be a technocrat with an impressive track record of working on various projects for other nations. Expressing gratitude that Uwajumogu had accepted the appointment, Anoro regarded it as one of the best developments within the current administration.
Anoro’s confidence in President Tinubu’s government grew substantially upon hearing the announcement. He likened it to an eraser that has dispelled doubts surrounding Tinubu’s leadership, thereby enhancing the government’s public legitimacy. The Speaker stressed that the appointment marked a watershed moment for Nigerian youth, as competence and capacity were finally being given prominence.
The Forum’s Speaker pointed out the rarity of a non-politician youth without any political backing securing a top ten appointment in any administration. He highlighted that previous appointments of individuals from similar backgrounds were often seen as compensatory measures or a result of political quotas.
Concluding the statement, Sir Collins Anoro extended his heartfelt congratulations to President Tinubu for the bold step taken to rejuvenate the country’s prospects. He also urged John Uwajumogu to approach his new role with dedication and make the nation proud through his exemplary service.
The appointment of John Uwajumogu has not only garnered praise from the Okigwe Forum but has also generated optimism among Nigerian youths, who view it as a pivotal moment for the country’s governance. As President Tinubu continues to make strategic appointments, the nation eagerly anticipates the positive impact these choices will have on the economy and overall development.
