OJ Simpson Gets Parole After 9 Years In Prison

Orenthal James popularly known as OJ Simpson, an American football running back who was convicted of several count charges ranging from armed robbery, kidnap to murder has finally gained parole.

OJ who is infamous for the Las Vegas robbery will be out of prison most likely on or before October 1.

The 70-year-old gave a detailed account of the case to the parole board earlier today, maintaining that he didn’t intend to steal but wish this would have never happened.

Simpson was at times jovial and combative with the members of the parole board, expressing his remorse and saying he’s humbled by his incarceration. Simpson was sentenced to prison following an arrest in 2007 during a botched robbery in Las Vegas, when he led a group of men into a hotel and casino to steal sports memorabilia at gunpoint. He contended the memorabilia and other personal items belonged to him.

Simpson said today, I take full responsibility.

“Mr Simpson, you are getting the same hearing that everyone else gets,” a parole panellist, Connie Bisbee, told him as Thursday’s hearing began.

“Sure,” he replied in a husky voice with a shrug and a smile. “Thank you, ma’am.”

Simpson told parole officials that the objects he took from the Las Vegas hotel room were later ruled by officials to legally belong to him.

One panellist asked: “So you believe that the property was yours?”
