A Plateau State High Court has dismissed the application of Obadiah Mailaifa to prevent the Nigerian Police Force from investigating him in the case of a northern governor being a Boko Haram commander.

Presiding over the application on Tuesday. September 29, 2020, Justice Arum Ashom of High Court 5, Jos dismissed it for lack of merit.

Upon receiving a letter of invitation from the police, Mailaifa’s legal team led by Pius Akubo had approached the court seeking a judicial pronouncement on the letter as they described it as “an intimidation, harassment, persecution, and witch hunt.”

Justice Ashom declared that the police also have the right to investigate Mailaifa even though the DSS is doing the same thing at the moment.
