The Registrar of the council, Mr. Farouk Abubakar, gave the admonition at the induction ceremony for graduates of the Bachelor of nursing science programme of the Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State. No fewer than 94 nursing graduates of the institution were inducted at the ceremony.

Abubakar explained that the nursing programme, in nature, was designed to improve the quality of nursing service in Nigeria by empowering nurses to make “sound nursing diagnoses, design appropriate nursing care plan, implement and evaluate nursing care holistically and comprehensively.”

He said, “I wish to admonish you to be credible ambassadors, adhere to ethics of the nursing profession, display humility and honesty in the course of your practice at all times.

“May I also utilize this occasion to encourage you to explore available opportunities to acquire higher degrees in nursing as there are lots of opportunities for nurses with such qualifications in various departments of nursing sciences and clinical arenas.”

In his remarks, the Pro-Chancellor of the university, Dr. Bode Ayorinde, urged the nursing graduates to be moderate in their dressing, saying the nursing profession involves practitioners to have a humble appearance.

He also disclosed that the college of medicine of the university would take off later this year.
