The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has strongly denounced the kidnapping of eight students of Government Secondary School, Awon in Kachia local government area of Kaduna state, Nigeria. The state chapter of the NLC has called for the immediate release of the students, urging the kidnappers to reunite the students with their family members.

In a statement issued by the state chairman of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Magaji, the NLC expressed sympathy and solidarity with the kidnapped students and their families. The NLC emphasized that the attack has instilled fear and anxiety among students and parents in the state.

The statement pointed out that the abduction of the students is a clear indication that the state is in a vulnerable and helpless situation. It also lamented that these attacks are under-reported, thereby presenting a partial representation of the grim reality facing parts of the state.

The NLC leader expressed concerns about the safety of not just the students, but all citizens in the state. The NLC has therefore called on the state government and all security agencies to take necessary action to ensure the release of the abducted students and the safety of everyone in the state.

According to the NLC, the bandits who have been terrorizing some parts of the state must be apprehended and brought to justice. The NLC called on the state government to prioritize the safety of its citizens and eliminate all forms of threats to the safety of the larger society.

In conclusion, the NLC urged the government to back up its assurances with reasonable actions that would guarantee the safety of everyone in the state. The statement stressed that citizens should not be left to live in fear and uncertainty about their safety and well-being.
