The Nigerian Army has conducted a clearance operation in the Kubusu forest and Kaso hills general area of Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna State. The operation was aimed at depriving bandits and other criminal elements freedom of action, creating an enabling environment for economic activities and legitimate businesses to strive.
The Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations 1 Division Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, confirmed that the operation resulted in the neutralisation of five bandits, who were killed during the several-hour-long operation.
The troops recovered motorcycles, arms, and other items after destabilising the hoodlums. Four AK-47 rifles, six AK-47 magazines, 24 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, three motorcycles, one matchet, two handsets, and some charms were among the recovered items. Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Punch, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the troops and commended their commitment and resilience during the operation. He also urged all law-abiding citizens to continue to support the troops and other security agencies with credible and actionable information that will assist in the fight against criminal elements.
The Nigerian military and other security forces have in recent months been working to disorganise terrorists and other criminal elements in the Northwest region, and have vowed to continue chasing and killing them until ultimate peace is restored. The operation in Kaduna State is a continuation of the military’s efforts to rid the region of criminal elements and create a safe environment for economic activities and legitimate businesses.
