Music in Nigeria without mentioning Wizkid is no way near. He must be in the list, he’s a principal in the game and for a top disc jockey to tap him for a music collaboration should be a dope one though.
DJ Spinall has been and he is still a top notched DJ that selects very vibrant and raving acts for his works. His recent release ‘NOWO’ in a collaborative effort with Wizkid was very much anticipated as per what you get putting Starboy on a song.
But hey! Killertunes dropped a dope upturn pop instrumental for the project but Wizkid was trying hit the standard of the normal Nigerian jam music and obviously didn’t hit it.
A cool listening to the song, its obvious that the only planned part of the song is the chorus and bridge. Wizkid dropped a meager verse for the song which is below par for a top cut artiste.
NOWO is a weak attempt and thiswould certainly be an understatement. This song and several others of its kind are the reasons behind the low quality of music this industry exports to the developed nations.
For an international act like Wizkid, it beckons on him to make more effort than before to project this industry in the right light. Similarly to ‘SOCO’ that was packed with ‘starboy clones’ in other to just project these new acts to the world.
Wizkid really needs to stop freestyling for songs and make proper music to raise his bar further.
