56-year-old fake doctor identified as Salahudeen Jamiu has been arrested by the Ogun state police command for allegedly carrying out an illegal abortion that led to death of mother of four in Ota.
According to the state police public relations officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi , Jamiu had been arrested after the husband of the deceased filed a report at Onipanu Division in Ogun state that he received a call from her friend Dupe Odebunmi saying that his wife was on admission at the clinic belonging to the suspect.
On getting to the clinic, the husband found nobody there, but on his way back home, he discovered the corpse of his wife in front of a building close to his house.
Upon the report, manhunt of Jamiu had begun and the suspect had been arrested.
Jamiu had been interrogated where he revealed that he was not a trained medical doctor.
“He confessed that he was not a trained medical doctor that he learnt the practice off the street. He also admitted to have dumped the woman’s body near her house pit of fear.
“The corpse has been deposited at the General Hospital Mortuary in Ota for autopsy. The Commissioner of Police Bashir Makama has ordered the transfer of the suspect to homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for proper action” Abimbola said.
After the suspect’s arrest it was learnt that the mother of four was pregnant and had proceeded to have an abortion without her husband knowledge after being introduced to Jamiu by her friend Odebunmi.
