Fire Erupts Olowu Spare Parts Market Lagos

A massive fire has gutted the Olowu spare parts market in Lagos, leaving traders devastated and counting their losses. The fire incident occurred on Thursday morning, and it is not yet clear what triggered the inferno.

According to reports, the fire started at one of the shops in the market and quickly spread to other shops, engulfing everything in its path. Many shops containing air-conditioners for sale, parts of vehicles, and motorcycles, among others, were consumed by the flames.

The traders who had their shops in the market lost goods worth millions of naira to the fire outbreak. Eyewitnesses say that some traders tried to salvage their wares, but the fire was too fierce for them to control.

The men of the Lagos State Fire Service and security operatives quickly responded to the emergency and have since commenced work at the scene to bring the situation under control. They battled the raging inferno for several hours before they were finally able to put it out.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, but investigations are currently ongoing to determine the cause of the outbreak. It is unclear if there were any casualties.

This incident is not the first of its kind, as a similar fire outbreak occurred three weeks ago at the Akere Spare Parts Market on Kirikiri Road, Olodi-Apapa in Ajegunle, Lagos. The government has been urged to take urgent measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future, as they cause significant damage to the economy and the livelihoods of many traders.
