The Lokoja-Ajaokuta road, a major artery linking the north and the South-East and some parts of the South-South regions of the country, has been cut off by flash floods from River Niger.
A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) visited the flooded parts of Lokoja on Thursday, September 24, 2020, revealed that the flood has covered a section of the road at Ganaja village, making it hard for motorists to pass.
Consequently, there has been heavy traffic gridlock on the road, particularly affecting trucks and passenger vehicles on interstate transport services.
Residents have had no other choice but to take alternative routes (which are longer) to get to their various destinations as many shop owners, hotels and places of work along the road have been forced to close as a result of the flood.
