A Twitter user shared images of the gun-ridden bus on the platform as he claimed the student union bus was on patrol as a result of incessant armed robbery attacks. He wrote;

Last night, SARS opened fire on Lautech SUG bus. The students were patrolling the school area due to incessant robbery attacks. SARS has refused to do nothing about the robberies in Lautech student area and are now shooting students trying to protect themselves #EndSARS

The students through their Union President, Abiodun Oluwaseun said the personnel of the anti-robbery squad attacked student security committee members who were on patrol of the school vicinity.

The Union President also said the whereabouts of the students in the bus remain unknown.

According to another student leader Fawole Isreal, the student committee was set up after incidences of robbery was reported by students in the University.

“Students who were more of Vigilante were attacked by the men of the anti-robbery squad with our vehicles destroyed and the students referred to as criminals”.

“Our students were shot at and many were taken away in a fashion like they were been kidnapped because they refused to allow extortion to take place again on campus, since we formed the security committee, we mandated them to ensure extortion stops and that’s one of the reasons operatives of the anti-robbery squad are angry”
