Lagos State University of Science and Technology Welcomes Deputy Vice Chancellors

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has given his nod to the appointment of Professors Abiodun Akinpelu Denloye and Basirat Olushola Oladipupo as the substantive Deputy Vice Chancellors of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) in Ikorodu.

According to an official statement released by Mr Oyelami Adesoye, the Head of Public Affairs unit in the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola, made the announcement. He explained that the appointment of the two professors aligns with the LASUSTECH Law of 2021, which seeks to ensure seamless leadership within the institution.

Professor Denloye has been assigned the responsibility of overseeing academic matters, while Professor Oladipupo will be in charge of administration. The Head of Service expressed his well wishes for the newly appointed individuals and urged them to exhibit a high level of dedication, diligence, and selflessness in the execution of their duties. He emphasized that they should use their exceptional academic backgrounds and previous achievements to contribute positively to the growth of the new university.

Furthermore, Mr Muri-Okunola noted that the appointments were conditional upon the professors declaring their assets at the Code of Conduct Bureau. He encouraged them to complete the necessary Code of Conduct documents, which outline the government’s expectations in relation to their new roles.

It is worth mentioning that both appointees are former staff members of the Lagos State University (LASU) in Ojo. Professor Oladipupo hails from the Department of Physical and Health Education, while Professor Denloye comes from the Faculty of Science.

In the interim, Mr Adeniran Kasali, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Special Adviser on Education, clarified that these appointments were made following the expiration of the tenures of Dr Gbemavo Kolawole Godonu and Dr Olumide Metilelu, who had been serving in an acting capacity in their respective positions.

This latest development marks a significant step towards strengthening the leadership structure of LASUSTECH and fostering continued academic excellence within the institution.
