Police Investigate Passenger Death in Bolt Car in Lagos

 

An investigation has been launched by the police in Lagos State following the death of a passenger in a Bolt car. The incident occurred in Lagos, Nigeria, and was reported by the Bolt car driver, whose name has not been disclosed. The spokesperson for the police, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the investigation to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday.

According to Hundeyin, the driver reported the incident to the Ilasan Police Division on Monday. The driver claimed that the passenger had requested to be taken from Osapa London, Lekki to Ikate area of Lekki. However, while in transit, the passenger suddenly screamed and shouted that he was experiencing chest pains.

“The customer was rushed to a hospital at Jakande 1st Gate, Lekki and later to another hospital also in Lekki, where he was pronounced dead,’’ said Hundeyin, quoting the Bolt driver’s statement at the police station.

The police visited the hospital, photographed the deceased, contacted members of his family, and deposited the corpse at the Infectious Diseases Hospital mortuary at Marina for preservation and autopsy.

At present, the cause of death remains unknown, and the police investigation aims to uncover the circumstances surrounding the passenger’s death. The investigation is ongoing, and the police have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
