The Labour Party has called on its members and supporters to turn out in large numbers and vote for the party’s candidates in the upcoming Governorship and State Assembly elections on Saturday.

The party has encouraged voters to show their support for a better Nigeria that works for everyone, which aligns with the party’s vision and is being championed by the party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The Acting National Youth Leader of the Labour Party, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, made this call during a media briefing held in Abuja on Thursday. He urged party members to protest against electoral fraud by casting their votes for the Labour Party’s Governorship candidates and Houses of Assembly candidates. Ahanotu stated that this simple assignment is the first step in telling the world that the Labour Party won the Presidential election.

Ahanotu also emphasized the need for the party to remain resolute, determined, and focused on reclaiming their stolen mandate to ensure true democracy in Nigeria. He acknowledged that the journey may not be smooth or free from challenges, but the party is ready to face the storms and regain freedom and true democracy.

The Youth Leader noted that the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections provide another opportunity for Nigerians to identify true obedient leaders. He stressed that the Labour Party stands by all its candidates in this election and will protest against electoral fraud on March 18, 2023, at all polling units across the country.

Ahanotu appealed to all Nigerians, particularly the youth, security officials, and INEC officials, not to be ready tools in the hands of old-order politicians. He urged them not to join in oppressing and intimidating the youth, as their life and future matter. The Labour Party Youth Leader called on party supporters to put their differences aside and make a loud statement with their votes for the Labour Party candidates nationwide on Saturday.

He expressed his gratitude to all Nigerians who have believed in the party’s President-in-waiting, Mr. Peter Obi, and his Vice, Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed. Ahanotu stated that the party is challenging the wrongful declaration of the election results in court, and that Nigerians voted for the Labour Party and Peter Obi won that election. He appreciated the patience and high level of maturity displayed by party members and supporters after the election results were wrongfully declared.
