Abubakar Kyari, deputy national chairman (north) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is currently presiding over a meeting of the party’s national working committee (NWC).
The development came hours after Abdullahi Adamu, national chairman of the party, resigned from office.
The meeting, held at the party’s headquarters in the bustling Wuse 2 district of the federal capital territory (FCT), has attracted key party figures from various regions of the country. Present at the gathering are Emma Enukwu, the deputy national chairman (south); Isaac Kekemeke, the vice-chairman for the southwest region; Salihu Lukman, the vice-chairman representing the northwest region; and Festus Fuanter, the deputy national legal secretary.
The party’s headquarters is currently surrounded by a heavy presence of security personnel, ensuring the smooth conduct of the meeting and maintaining law and order in the vicinity.
Notably, the former national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, was absent from the gathering, raising speculation and curiosity about his sudden resignation. Furthermore, Iyiola Omisore, the national secretary of the APC, arrived late at the venue but left shortly afterward, as insiders revealed that he was not granted entry to the meeting.
Party members and political observers alike eagerly await the outcome of this gathering, as it holds implications for the future trajectory of the APC and its political endeavors.
