Korede Bello: Singer Begins Ambassadorial Duties With Police And The Media Forum

Mavin records act, Korede Bello who was on December 2nd, 2015 unveiled by the Nigerian Police as the Police Youth Ambassador, yesterday December 14 held a Forum themed “Police and The Media” in his school, the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba.

The forum which was aimed at promoting the relationship between the police and the media as well as the Nigerian citizens, was made possible by the Korede Bello Initiative In collaboration with the NIJ.

Panelists at the forum included the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and special guest, Fatai Owoseni represented by ACP Lanre Ogunlowo, On-Air Personality, Tosyn Bucknor aka area mama, Mike Okwoche of Television Continental, Y! Naija Editor-in-chief, Chude Jideonwo, and Security Expert, Richard Amuwa. Among the notable people also present was TVC’s Labi Olayori.

The forum was heated as issues involving the police and the media as well as issues concerning the image of the police and the perception of the average Nigerian of the force were being raised and tackled. Mr Richard Amuwa in one of his talks said that policing is about public relations, he explained in an interview the importance of building a good image that the police needed to reach out to the people more than ever.

Members of the audience were also allowed to asked questions and narrated their various experiences with the police.

In Korede’s words, the aim of the forum is to help foster the relationship between the media and the law enforcement agencies. He said the forums alone cannot solve the problems but it is a sure way to get the conversation going on progressive steps to be taken while reiterating that it is a collective responsibility.
