A first-class traditional ruler in Plateau State, Isaac Wakili, who was kidnapped by gunmen in the early hours of Friday has regained his freedom.
TalkGlitz had earlier reported that gunmen kidnapped the monarch in the early hours of Friday at his palace.
The gunmen had engaged the Palace security in a gun battle and subdued them before kidnapping the king.
Some residents in the community confirmed the release of the monarch to newsmen.
“You know our traditional ruler was kidnapped by gunmen at his palace in the early hours of Friday but he has just been released.
He was released a few hours after his abduction with the help of security men.
He is not at his palace at the moment because they took him to the hospital for examination considering what he went through at the hands of his abductors,” a source in the community told newsmen.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Alabo Alfred, also confirmed the release of the monarch.
He said that two suspects had been arrested in connection with his abduction.
The PPRO said, “The monarch has just been rescued and two kidnap suspects arrested. An investigation is still in progress please.”
