According to a recent news report, the Governor of Kano state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has expressed confidence that the All Progressive Congress (APC) will win the state governorship election by a wide margin. Speaking with journalists on Saturday at the Government house in his hometown of Dawakin-Tofa LGA, the governor stated that the APC will emerge victorious in both the state Governorship and House of Assembly Elections, just as it did in the Presidential election at the center.
Ganduje remarked that he had observed high turnout rates at many polling centers, and the election appeared to be proceeding smoothly. He said, “My expectation is for the APC to win overwhelmingly like we won the Presidential election the last time overwhelmingly. So far, I have not heard of any eventuality.”
The Kano governor expressed his satisfaction with the conduct of the election, specifically praising the punctuality of INEC staff and materials. He also applauded the peaceful behavior of voters and the efforts of security agencies to maintain a secure environment throughout the voting process.
Furthermore, Ganduje appealed to the citizens of Kano to exercise their right to vote in a peaceful manner. He reminded them that a peace accord had been signed among political parties with the Kano Peace Committee, and that they should adhere to the commitment to a peaceful election.
In conclusion, Governor Ganduje expressed his optimism that the APC will win the election by a significant margin and called on voters to continue to participate in the electoral process peacefully.
