Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, continues his vigorous demolition campaign in the state, as he directed the destruction of a multi-million naira roundabout located in close proximity to the entrance of the Government House earlier today.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf personally oversaw the demolition of the roundabout, which stood just a few meters away from the Government House.
The operation was meticulously executed, with strict security measures in place to ensure the safety of all involved.
This particular roundabout held historical significance, as it had been remodeled and refurbished by the previous administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 2017, at a staggering cost of N160 million.
However, Governor Yusuf’s administration deemed the roundabout unnecessary and opted to dismantle it as part of their ongoing development strategy.
It is worth recalling that the governor had recently embarked on a similar spree of demolitions. In the early hours of Sunday, he ordered the demolition of shops situated near the fence of Sani Abacha Stadium in Kofar Mata, as well as buildings adjacent to GSS Kofar Nasarawa, facing IBB road, and GGSS Dukawuya in Goron Dutse.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s demolition drive has drawn mixed reactions from the public. While some residents appreciate the efforts to modernize the state’s infrastructure and improve traffic flow, others have expressed concerns about the financial implications of demolishing existing structures and the impact on affected businesses and individuals.
As the demolition spree continues, it remains to be seen which structures will be targeted next, and how the governor’s vision for a transformed Kano State will unfold in the coming months.
