The Jigawa State Government has commenced the administration of COVID-19 booster vaccines for those who completed their first and second doses in the state.
Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar stated this after he received his booster dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine in Government House, Dutse.
He said it is pertinent to get the booster dose considering the new Omicron variant, which has forced some countries to impose another lockdown in major cities.
He added that the state government has provided the vaccines in public places and in rural communities to ensure easy access.
Governor Badaru however commended the people of the state for accepting the vaccine.
“The daily vaccination rate has been impressive, reaching 17,000 people per day compared with the five to 10,000 per day some days back”, he said.
He also urged the people of the state to ensure they take the vaccine and take the booster for those who have completed their doses to protect themselves from getting infected by the virus.
