Man City star Gabriel Jesus has been tipped to sign for Arsenal at the beginning of the coming transfer window. The 24-year-old sees his spot on the City team threatened by the signing of Erling Haaland for £53m a few days ago. Arsenal have been monitoring Jesus for a while but the player was not interested. With Haaland at the Etihad, it is likely that Jesus will listen to offers from the Gunners.

Jesus’ agent was reportedly seen in the capital and it is now clear that he was seeing members of the Arsenal board of directors regarding a possible move for his client. Jesus signed for City in 2016 upon the arrival of Pep Guardiola taking over from Manuel Pellegrini in 2016 summer. Arsenal are working to replace Alex Lacazette who leaves the club this summer after a five-year period.

The Gunners had contacted the representatives of other players like Darwin Nunez and Victor Osimhen but the general fear is the cost of both strikers. Osimhen could be priced out of Napoli but the club are demanding not less than £65m for his transfer and Nunez can only leave Benfica for £45m and not less. This is the main reason why Arsenal are weighing up a move for Jesus.

Gabriel Jesus could leave City for as low as £30m and this comes as a relief for Arsenal who are strong admirers of Jesus’ qualities and scoring prowess. Gabriel Jesus has been a fringe player at City this season and it is worrying for him as he seeks regular starting roles wherever he will be next season. Jesus has won three Premier League titles, four League Cup titles, and one FA Cup.

The Brazil international is ready for a new chapter in his career and he is happy to play in England with the experience he has gathered in his six years here. Inter were also considering a move for him but Jesus intends to remain in the Premier League and it is likely Inter will be snubbed by the striker. With Eddie Nketiah’s future uncertain at the Emirates, Arsenal are considering another option at centre-forward but they are yet to c0ontact any club regarding any striker other than Gabriel Jesus.

No fee has been agreed yet but Arsenal are optimistic about signing Jesus this summer and are already in the second stage of discussions for the forward. Sources close to the player say he will agree by the start of June and communicate his response to the Gunners.

Jesus has never been interested in Manchester United amidst rumours circulating about him agreeing personal terms with the Red Devils. The striker is yet to agree personal terms with any club and it is likely all that will be done in June.
