The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, received high praise from the Chairman of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Ejikeme Mmesoma, Soli Sada, for the board’s commendable use of technological innovations in conducting the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Sada expressed his admiration for the advanced technological measures implemented by JAMB during the committee’s visit to the board’s headquarters. The Chairman further commended JAMB for taking robust steps to fortify its operations against potential criminal infiltrations.
In a statement issued by the Board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, on Thursday in Abuja, Sada lauded JAMB for its outstanding revenue generation for the federation account, hailing the institution as a paragon of quality governance among public entities in the country.
“This is one of the institutions that demonstrated the quality of Nigerians that we have in public sector governance of this country. What we have seen today in JAMB is a testimony to the quality of public officers that are there and how disciplined they are. No wonder JAMB is generating significant revenue for the federation account,” remarked Sada.
As representatives of the parliament, the committee members vowed to submit a comprehensive report to the parliament to explore avenues for enhancing JAMB’s capacity. They emphasized the importance of enabling JAMB to continue delivering top-notch services to the nation.
Speaking during the meeting, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede shared insights into the board’s operations, stating that the Situation Room allows seamless communication with all states and candidates during the examinations. Oloyede revealed that he personally monitors all examination centers, CBT (Computer-Based Test) center accreditations, and admissions to over 1000 higher institutions from his office.
In recent financial developments, The PUNCH reported that JAMB remitted a substantial sum of N2 billion as its interim surplus for the 2023 operating year to the Federal Government. The board assured that additional remittances would follow as its operations for the year progress. Since Prof. Oloyede assumed office, JAMB has already remitted over N55 billion to the Federal Government coffers.
JAMB’s commitment to leveraging technology and maintaining discipline in its affairs, as pledged by the Oloyede-led management upon assuming office, has been a key driver behind the board’s consistent financial success.
