Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has raised concerns about the age of Mmesoma Ejikeme, the embattled candidate of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Examination (JAMB). In a Facebook live session, Dokubo suggested that Mmesoma’s age may have been tampered with prior to her participation in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). He cited his own children’s early completion of secondary school at the ages of 15 and 16 as evidence to support his claim.
Dokubo expressed his frustration over what he considered an obvious lie regarding the 19-year-old student’s examination results. “I have actually checked the little girl’s details, and I observed that there is the possibility that her age was altered before she sat for the exam,” he stated. He further questioned why Mmesoma would be taking the JAMB at the age of 19 when his own children had already completed school at much younger ages. During his investigation, Dokubo claimed to have seen a date from 2004 in Mmesoma’s records.
While Dokubo acknowledged that many people were aware of such discrepancies but chose not to address them, he felt compelled to speak out due to his growing irritation with the situation. He criticized those who were comfortable with accepting an obvious lie as the truth.
The ongoing controversy surrounding Mmesoma’s UTME results stems from a disagreement between the student and JAMB. Mmesoma, a student at Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi, Anambra State, initially claimed to have scored 362 on her UTME. However, JAMB accused her of forging the result and asserted that she had actually scored 249. After an exchange of words, Mmesoma eventually admitted to the latter score.
Asari Dokubo’s remarks add another layer of complexity to the contentious issue surrounding Mmesoma Ejikeme’s UTME results. His claims regarding the possible alteration of her age before the examination have raised questions about the integrity of the entire process. The situation highlights the need for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth and ensure fairness for all candidates involved.
