The family of the late Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief (Mrs) Alaba Lawson, has announced the detailed funeral arrangements for her upcoming memorial service on December 8th in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
In an official statement released to the press by Mr. Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, the media aide of the deceased, following a meeting held in Ogun State’s capital on Sunday, the family confirmed the finalization of the burial plans.
The statement also mentioned the formation of a committee responsible for refining the program of events for the funeral of Chief Alaba Lawson. Chief Lawson was a well-respected figure in the fields of education and entrepreneurship, and she passed away on October 28th at the age of 72.
Mr. Kayode-Adedeji disclosed that the Central Planning Committee overseeing the burial arrangements is chaired by Sanya Abiola, with other members including Tayo Akintayo, Sesan Bankole, and Akin Jiboku.
Additionally, the family meeting, presided over by music legend Ebenezer Obe-Fabiyi, included other members of the Central Planning Committee, namely Akinola Lawson, Babalola Lawson, Oreoluwa Obey-Fabiyi, and Taiwo Jiboku.
The funeral arrangements, as finalized by the committee, will encompass a series of activities from December 1st to December 6th, dedicated to various groups, associations, and professional bodies that wish to pay their respects to the departed.
On December 7th, a service of songs will be held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, while the funeral service is scheduled for December 8th at St. James African Church in Idi-Ape, Abeokuta, Ogun State. The interment ceremony following the funeral service will be reserved exclusively for the family members of the deceased, according to the official release.
