Inter-State Policing: Governor Adeleke Advocates Collaborative Efforts
Adeleke Commends Security Agencies, Calls for Strengthened Intelligence Sharing

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has urged police formations and commands to increase their efforts in inter-state policing to combat cross-border crimes. The call was made during a security meeting held with heads of security agencies in the state, according to a statement released on Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Rasheed Olawale.

Adeleke expressed concern over the increasing rate of criminal attacks in different parts of the state and stressed the need for urgent and concerted efforts to tackle the issue. While commending the proactive actions of the police and other security agencies, he called for the strengthening of intelligence gathering and sharing. He also assured the agencies of his administration’s readiness to support their efforts.

The governor urged the security agencies to establish operational synergy and relationships among the state commands to prevent criminals from launching cross-border raids. He described Osun as a peaceful state with a responsive security apparatus but noted that recent inter-state raids by armed robbers demanded a review of security strategies.

During the meeting, Adeleke said, “I am elated to have all of you here led by the zonal Assistant Inspector General of Police. Recent security breaches are traced to inter-state raids by criminals. So, it is productive that we have all the relevant officers here. Let us strengthen collaboration and partnership. Osun must remain as peaceful as ever.”

In response, Mr. Akande Sikiru, the AIG in charge of Zone 11, commended the governor for his support to the security agencies and assured him that the police service was restrategizing to sustain the record of peaceful existence in the state. He expressed appreciation for the logistics support provided by the administration for their operations and promised to respond proactively to the security needs of the state.

In conclusion, Governor Adeleke’s call for increased efforts in inter-state policing is an important step towards combating cross-border crimes in Osun State. The cooperation and collaboration between security agencies and state commands are crucial to achieving lasting peace and security in the state.
