Ihonvbere, Kingsley Chinda Emerges House Of Reps Principal Officers

The speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, made a significant announcement today regarding the principal officers of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the majority party in the lower legislative chamber.

During the plenary session held on Tuesday, Speaker Abbas unveiled the appointed principal officers from the APC.

The majority leader position was bestowed upon Julius Ihonvbere, a lawmaker who represents the Owan East/Owan West constituency of Edo State.

Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims, a legislator hailing from the Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro constituency of Kogi State, was named the deputy majority leader.

Furthermore, Bello Usman Kumo was appointed as the chief whip, representing the Akko federal constituency of Gombe State. Assisting Kumo as the deputy chief whip is Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, a representative from the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North federal constituency in Ogun State.

Transitioning to the minority leadership, Speaker Abbas declared Kingsley Chinda, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Rivers State, as the minority leader.

Working alongside Chinda as the deputy minority leader is Ali Madaki, a distinguished member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Ali Isa, an esteemed representative from the PDP, was also appointed as the minority whip, ensuring effective coordination of the minority’s agenda and interests. Lastly, George Ebizimawo of the Labour Party was named as the deputy minority whip, bringing his unique perspective and dedication to the table.

Speaker Abbas emphasized that the selection of these principal officers received unanimous endorsement from all members of the APC within the House of Representatives.

Concluding his announcement, Speaker Abbas extended his heartfelt prayers for wisdom and guidance for all the principal officers in their new roles.

The responsibility of leading the green chamber is substantial, and with their collective expertise, the newly appointed officers are well-positioned to make impactful contributions toward the progress and prosperity of Nigeria.
