Following the recent exposure of #SexForGrades documentary by BBC Africa, Bisi Fayemi, the wife of Kayode Fayemi, governor of Ekiti revealed that she was also harassed as a university student.
According to the cables, Bisi revealed this while speaking at the premiere of #SexForGrades on Monday, October 7, after the release of a 53 mins documentary which exposed some university lecturers harassing their students.
She said the acts are condemnable and that some lecturers have developed a culture of entitlement to the bodies of their female students.
Bisi said, she shed a tear over the experience the young students get to face.
“I cried because what these young women have to experience is the story of many of us who passed through higher institution in this country,”
“I was educated here in Nigeria and I too was a victim of sexual harassment during my university days. I was luckier than these victims,”
It didn’t go that far but it was extremely unpleasant and of course, back in the days when all these things happened you can’t tell anyone because if you do even up till now people ask you to keep shut,” she said.
