Suspected kidnapper identified as Taofeek Lawal, has reportedly confessed to kidnapping of children in Lagos and Osogbo saying that he used the ransoms it to sponsor his family.
The suspect was arrested by members of the Gani Adams led Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) on Tuesday, October 15, in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo state.
According to reports, Lawal confessed to the OPC members that he ventured into kidnapping to sponsor his wife’s education and that he had kidnapped six children between the ages of four and six years.
Lawal also reported;y confessed that he had sold his biological child to take care of his family.
“I have built two houses, a mosque and a church. I do take care of my family from what I do and my parents know about what I do,”
He revealed that he had been caught five times in Lagos and Osogbo but a traditional ruler in Osibo kept securing his release.
Babatunde Atiba, an OPC official, said the suspect had been arrested after a report had been filed by an unnamed woman.
Atiba said Lawal has been handed over to the Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Oyo state for further investigation and prosecution.
