In a recent podcast interview, Asa Asika, a renowned Nigerian talent manager and the manager of superstar singer Davido shared an inspiring revelation about his unconventional path to success.
Despite not possessing a university degree, Asika proudly declared that he pays the salaries of a staggering 100 individuals, highlighting the fact that alternative approaches can lead to remarkable achievements.
Asa Asika, who is also the co-founder of The Plug Entertainment, a prominent management firm, emphasized the importance of personal experiences and individual journeys in shaping one’s destiny.
Recalling the societal pressure he faced to pursue higher education as the sole pathway to prosperity, Asika boldly challenged this notion.
“One thing I have learned about life, everyone should know this, but I think experiences teach you better,” Asika expressed thoughtfully. “Everyone’s story is different, everyone’s path is different, and people always feel you have to go a certain way to get certain goals.”

“And without being condescending or trying to sound cocky, I have friends who have gone to school, have PhDs, and are working 9- 5 and they are making peanuts.
“I am like, okay dude, at that point in time when everyone was saying go to university, stay in uni. I’m like, dude, one of my companies pays 45 people’s salaries a month, and that’s only one of the businesses I run,” Asika proudly shared.
“If I do the math, I probably pay about 100 salaries a month, and I have no degree, so it’s not about following the rules. Rules are made to be broken; it’s now you being smart about taking risks.”
