Davido revealed he now charging for music collaborations. The award-winning artist made this astonishing announcement during his appearance on the highly acclaimed Bootleg Kev podcast.

During the podcast interview, Davido expressed his new perspective on collaborations, particularly with international artists.

In the past, it was customary for musicians to collaborate with American artists without monetary compensation. However, the dynamic has shifted, as Davido explained, “Before, it was like a big deal to have an American artist under your record. You can be in the studio now ‘vibing’ with somebody. Somebody does a verse, and the next day they send you paperwork and an invoice. It’s the other way around now.”

“I am charging now. I am sending my lawyers. Right now, it’s timeless. It’s a hundred if I know you. And then the video, (it’s another thing). If you do a record and I know that you are going to push it to the fullest. You are an artiste that I enjoy, like a fan.”

This bold step taken by Davido has sparked conversations within the music industry, as artists and fans alike contemplate the implications of charging for collaborations.

Some view this decision as a necessary progression, marking a new era of recognition for African artists. Others, however, question whether this shift could potentially limit opportunities for up-and-coming talents seeking to collaborate with established international acts.
