Legendary hip hop and Nollywood star, Queen Latifah, has been honoured with the WEB Du Bois Medal at Harvard University for her great contributions to black culture and history.
The award was from the Hutchins Centre for African & African American Research, Harvard.
Excited Latifah disclosed that combination of entertainment with other things has not always been easy for her, adding that people said she would fail during her early days in the industry.
“Crossing over from rap to film, the people at our agency told my partner I could never be an A-list artist,” she said.
Though she had never won a Grammy or Oscar award like her colleagues, her business partner, Shakim Compere had been determined to see her successful.
She encouraged the students of the university telling that they should not be bothered when people tell them, and that they should always believe in their dream.
